Lately I have been obsessed with working on the comic. It's ridiculous because I'm waking up too early and going to bed too late.
Finished Moving

I'm finally getting settled in to my new place so I can get back to work on the comic. I want to do some sort of an art show before I start releasing the new comic. We'll see. I haven't decided if I'll use Blogger to publish the web comic or not. It seems like a convenient way to go about doing it. Anyhow, this is the dilemma that's slowing down the process. While I work on a decision, I'll be sketching up some art and continue writing up some stories.

Comic Con in Seattle
Friday, March 26, 2010
At 7am I drove down to WallMart World to pick out something to wear to the Emerald City Comic Con. I found two suitable geek tees and slipped on some cargo pants. Then I Rushed the family into the Fabulous Ford Focus and we were on our way to my first comic con ever!
El Paso, TX never had a con worth going to and I never had the funds to go to the big San Diego con. I always wanted to go to a con but with the intention of having my own booth to represent my own comic book. My new town called me out and said “Rami, come on! Get your Behind to the con.” So, I answered the call and took the boy with me.
I needed this experience more than I thought. I saw other guys peddling their comics hoping someone would just flip through their pages. It was like a breath of fresh air. I have a renewed enthusiasm for finishing my comic. I want to peddle my comic around too. The amount of independent artist I saw further encouraged me.
Interestingly enough, I found that meeting some of my favorite artist was not cool. They made me feel kind of stalkerish and bizarre. It was an awkward experience to say the least. The boy was with me so I couldn’t stand in line to see very many people. It could be that I was standing in line with other stalkerish and bizarre people who claimed they were getting stuff signed for other people too. Stan Lee and Leonard Nimoy were charging bucks just to see them but I assume that was to pay for their security. Someone has to protect them from all the stalkerish fan boys. Lou Ferrigno was easy to see and it was always exciting passing by him. I really didn’t want Lou to see me be the stalkerish bizarre fan so I didn’t get an autograph. I really wanted to meet Wil Wheaton especially after seeing him on the Big Bang Theory.
I was surprised to see Jhonen Vasquez’s line was at least 50 times longer than Lou Ferrigno’s. I stood in line to meet Vasquez and I even got my picture taken with him. Out of respect to him I won’t post that. Besides, that photo occupies my shrine. He has way too many stalkerish, bizarre people wanting to see him. However, I’m sure my wanting to touch him disturbed him a little bit. It was kind of distressing. It was one of those impulses were you know you shouldn’t do it and you tell yourself you’re not going to do it but you do it anyway. I reached out to shake his hand and he shook it back. Man that felt strange. He was nice about it but I could tell it was a little inappropriate especially with my stlakerish, bizarre looks. This paragraph is way longer than I wanted it to be. Now I’m going to spend way too much on a custom frame for his autographed poster.
I found the perfect gift for my bosses. Gay comics. Seriously, folks gay comics from Prism Comics. I was really impressed, they only do gay comics. Gay comics are the perfect gift for anyone’s boss, especially mine. So, I not being gay myself, felt no awkwardness at all about purchasing a handful of today’s finest gay comic books. So impressed was I with the amount of gayness put into these comic books I simply and discreetly slipped my Issues of Gay into my backpack. Then I proceeded to stand in Vasquez’s line for round 2 of more awkward hand shaking and freaky stalker like gawking.
Pleased was I to discover my boy’s new found interest in all things Star Wars. So pleased was I that I purchased a storm trooper and R2 D2 action figure. So pleased with them was he that he played with them for 2 whole days before waning interest in all things Star Wars. So much for living vicariously through the boy.
The comic con was so fantastic I think I saw someone’s nipple. Some chick with really big boobs and a really low cut shirt thing. Yup, I’m pretty sure I saw some nipple and I think the boy saw it too. I saw all the nerd girls dress up like their favorite slutty comic book character. Indeed, the comic con in Seattle (or as it was called #ECCC10) truly was fantastic. It was so fantastic I had to write a blog about it.
